Some things we do for love, love, love

If you live in a cave and just found Internet access, you may not realize that Wednesday is Valentine's Day. It's very easy to despise this day regardless of your status. It's a day dedicated to love after all, and that makes it an obvious enemy to anyone who's a little cynical about romance.  But Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about romance. Throughout the years, my favourite Valentine memories have been of friends and family.

During especially rough days at Western, my mother sent me adorable  stuffed  toys — lady love bugs, to be exact for Valentine's Day. And last year, at the height of my homesickness, Maggie and Brian sent me the most awesome care package of my favourite things: music, magazines, art stuffs. I guess the most important thing about the day is knowing that we're loved and showing others that we love them, too. Sometimes it's through presents, a phone call, or a song. Whatever happens, I hope you spend the day with someone you love.
